What is Weight Training Website - Welcome
A place for everyone who is interested in looking great,
gaining strength and piling on the muscle by performing
weight training exercises.

This site will show the
most effective lifts for building strength and guide you how to
perform these movements safely and effectively.
We have scoured the internet to find you the best videos
illustrating the
most effective weight training movements.
Visit our Video Page.
There is a vast desert of exercise guides, websites,
magazines etc out there which can leave weight trainers
bemused, causing them to waste endless hours at the gym with
little or no strength gains.
What is Weight Training
focuses on the major exercises, the most important and
most effective movements.
Work out by doing these exercises correctly and you WILL
see gains.
Be aware though, the exercises on here are tough, really
tough. For example if your work out involves doing sets of
heavy Squats or Deadlifts to failure, you'll know all about
it.
So if you're used to relatively easy sessions in the gym
doing puny bicep curls or quad extensions then you're in for
a shock.
The exercises on here will work you and will work you hard.
There are no short cuts to strength gains (well there is
drugs but they're absolutely not worth it, your life is way
more important).
Do the exercises as shown on this website, train hard and
watch your muscles grow.
What is Weight Training?
A form of exercise involving
the lifting of weights to increase strength, endurance and
muscle size.
Weight training is not a sport, it is a form of exercise.
The weights used are normally
- Dumbbells (a
short bar with a weight on each end)
- Barbell (a
long bar with a weight on each end)
- Kettlebell
(cast iron ball with a handle)
- Weight Machine
(exercise machine used for weight training)
There are a countless number of weight training exercises,
each of which will target a particular area of the body.
The 'until failure' concept is often used; that is, you will
do a particular exercise as many times as possible until you
cannot do anymore.

Lifting heavier weights with fewer repetitions will increase
strength more.
Lifting lighter weights with more repetions will increase
endurance more.
Individuals can tailor their weight training programs to
suit whatever goal they have in mind.
Weight Training Exercises
There are loads and loads of weight training movements.
The most important ones for improving whole body strength are
the movements which target the largest body parts and the
muscles within. The largest body parts to consider when
weight training are...
- Legs and Buttocks
- Back
- Chest and Shoulders
The exercises below are often termed 'compound movements'
because they work many muscles at once and will work to
strengthen your body as a whole rather than solely
strengthening a single part of your body.
The Big Weight
Training Exercises
Squats
This excellent exercise targets primarily muscles in the
front and rear thigh, lower back and your bottom. However it
will also require effort from the muscles in the upper back,
lower legs and the core muscles - abs and hips.
Due to the large number of muscles used, a squat workout is
essentially a full body workout.
Check out some great examples of squatting here...Squat Video Page.
Deadlifts
Along with the squat this is the best exercise for gaining
full body strength. Primarily this stresses muscles in the
rear thigh, lower back, upper back, back of the shoulders.
However there is also effort required by near enough all
other muscles in the body.
Again like the squat, a deadlift workout is essentially a
full body workout.
Check out some great examples of Deadlifting here...Deadlift Video Page.
Bench Press
Primarily this targets the muscles in the chest, front of
the shoulders and back of arms; less effort is required also
by muscles in the front arms, neck and stomach.
Check out some great examples of Bench Pressing here...Bench Press
Video Page.
Shoulder Press
Primarily this targests the muscles in the shoulders and
triceps; less effort is required also by muscles in the rear
thigh, buttocks, core muscles - stomach and hips.
Check out some great examples of Shoulder Press here...Shoulder
Press Video Page.
Bent Over Rows
The Bent Over Row is for the back, what the Bench Press is
for the chest. With your body bent at the hips, it involves
pulling the weight from the ground up to your chest. This
exercise will give the complete upper back a killer workout
and is a must if you want a strong muscular back.

here...Bent
Over Rows Video Page.
